Program areas at Scott County Farm Bureau

Public policy programs in order to protect & promote the agriculture industry the Scott co Farm Bureau through its structure of volunteer leaders supports public policy efforts at the local state and national level. This is accomplished through both legislative & regulatory monitoring, communications with members & public awareness programs about farming & rural life & provide information about the agriculture industry. Volunteer board members participate in sponsorship of meet the candidate activities & yearly policy meetings with their legislators to educate them about ag policy & how the industry is impacted by lawmakers.
Agriculture in the classroom the Scott County Farm Bureau is a primary sponsor to agriculture in the classroom. This program teaches elementary age children the importance of agriculture in their everyday lives and where their food and fiber comes from.
Agriculture leadership activities the Scott County Farm Bureau structure of organizational leadership provides many opportunities for member leaders to keep abreast of issues that affect agriculture. Local board members attend organizational & educational meetings each month. They participate in other local agricultural & educational meetings each month. They participate in other local acricultural civic & community organizations. Leaders attend district state & national conferences to network with farmers & other agriculturalists to learn about current issues facing agriculture. A highly developed committee structure provides leadership opportunities for members through meetings, regular communications and agriculture activities.
