Program areas at Scottsdale Railroad and Mechanical Society
During the 2023 calendar year, the Society continued to support the promotion of the mccormick stillman Railroad park in Scottsdale az through financial aid and volunteers.the Society continues to fund various upgrade, operational and repair exepnsesrelated to the model Railroad building for the city and the model Railroad clubs.the Society continues to loan pieces of the dorfman estate miniature collection andtall ships for display in the model Railroad building. During 2023 the Society funded the repair and reconstruction of some of the miniature displays, along with have the displays professionally cleaned to prolong their display lives.the Society continues to assist model Railroad clubs housed in the model railroadbuilding by funding train repair and replacement grants for $3,000 per year per club, five clubs in 2023.the Society continues to cover the cost of the entrance fee to the model railroadbuidling by covering the city employee staffing costs. This allows the public toenjoy the building and its amenities at no charge.the Society continues to sponsor and support the 4th of july fireworks at the park,summer concert series, railfair, special children's events, halloween, holiday lights and members night.in addition to its annual support of the park's holiday lights event, the Society continues to purchase additional halloween and holiday lights displays for the public to enjoy during these events.the Society continues to assist with the cost of various upgrades, repairs andmaintenance to the park, park buildings and park equipment.the Society has committed $1,876,310 in funding for the construction of a new child interactive climber for the new mutli-functional use building incorporated into the master plan of the park. The project is currently in the design phase with construction starting in early 2024.
