Program areas at SSCF
The Foundation participates in programs made possible by grants from the nfl Foundation, the cornerstone of the nfl's commitment to community service. The Foundation supports a variety of Charitable organizations and causes through its Charitable giving and programs. Supporting organizations serving diverse youth in our community continues to be one of the main focuses. This year, the Foundation funded a trip for young black men to visit hbcus, funded the youth achievement center which will provide vital housing and resources for bipoc youth, and purchased tech equipment for bipoc women. Support for sports both at the youth and high school level included grants for girl's high school flag football teams to purchase uniforms and equipment, funding for low-income youth to play Seahawks flag football and a recognition program for boy's high school tackle football coaches. A variety of additional causes were supported through the Foundation including volunteering in the areas of military support, food insecurity, social and environmental justice efforts, housing and homelessness support and youth and family empowerment. Military communities were supported through a military family day on the field at lumen field and through a couples counseling clinic. Mental health was also a large focus of support including offering a scholarship to a bipoc master's candidate in psychology and a donation to a black healthy minds program.
Since its inception, the Foundation has taken an active role to expand and enhance the Seahawks' ability to raise and distribute funds for Charitable purposes in the pacific northwest. The Foundation makes grants and contributions to public charities that serve the needs of children in the community. The Foundation makes these grants and contributions to pacific northwest charities qualified for tax exemption under irc section 501(c)(3) and qualified as public charities under irc sections 509(a)(1) or 509(a)(2). The Foundation supports charities whose purpose and programs are consistent with the primary exempt purpose of the Foundation. The Foundation generates funds by holding special events that capitalize on the Foundation's association with the Seahawks, Seattle's national football league professional football team. Since 2004, the Foundation has held "the spirit of 12" program, implementing in the 2022 season the 50/50 raffle, whereby the Foundation collaborates with local nonprofit organizations that serve our community to raise money at Seahawks home games to benefit local charities.
