WE PROVIDE A DIVERSE EDUCATION TO STUDENTS FROM KINDERGARTEN TO 12TH GRADE. Selwyn College Preparatory School is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory school for students in Kindergarten through grade 12. The school strives to create a community that promotes intellectual inquisitiveness, honors individuals, and seeks diversity in its many manifestations. Meeting the expectations of a challenging curriculum, mutual respect, cooperation, and concern for others are highly cherished school values. While fostering at all grade levels an enthusiastic love of learning and an appreciation for the natural and social environment, the schools ultimate goal is to ensure that students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in college and in their lives beyond the years of formal education. The small student/faculty ratio and challenging academic programs at all levels require students to do their best to find success and to develop self-discipline and self-reliance. Students are encouraged to think clearly, independently, and creatively as they develop their potential. The curriculum is sequentially structured and designed to impart knowledge, develop skills, stimulate curiosity, and nurture positive values so that learning and caring will become lifelong pursuits. The Lower School emphasizes a progressive development of knowledge and skills in a strong intellectual and social curriculum while giving individual attention so that pupils develop their full potential in all academic and social areas. To further develop independence, the Middle School (grades 6-8) refines academic skills by focusing on a high school preparatory curriculum while providing opportunities for exploration and participation. The Upper School (grades 9-12) provides a liberal arts college preparatory education that encourages its students to strive for excellence in all that they do by fostering the skills and habits they will need to pursue their education after graduation. The faculty is committed to the overall growth of the students and guides them in developing progressively greater degrees of self-confidence and social awareness. Students have opportunities to learn from each other and to develop skills in the classroom, athletics, and school organizations. In a spirit of cooperation and service, the school helps to maintain and enhance the campus through regular activities and assists the local community through special projects. Working closely with parents, we encourage students to develop and share their varied gifts with others to benefit their community and the world.
