Senior Citizens of Chewelah Valley provides housing for low income senior citizens and promotes the well-being of individuals and families in need through a food bank that distributes approximately 86,300 pounds of food and 40,700 pounds of supplemental items. It also promotes the well-being of senior adults through Senior activities and housing with Sunny Acres Senior Housing apartments having 48 units, 44 with USDA Rural Hous.

Senior housing - to promote the social, cultural, spiritual, economic, physical and mental well-being of the Senior adults of Chewelah Valley through Senior activities and housing. Sunny acres Senior housing apartments has 48 units, 44 with usda rural housing rent and mortgage interest subsidies.
Senior center - to promote the social, cultural, spiritual, economic, physical and mental well being of individuals and families in need, by providing social activities at the center.
Food bank - to promote the social, cultural, spiritual, economic, physical and mental well being of individuals and families in need, by providing food and supplemental items to members of the community. Over 155,000 pounds of food and food related commodity items and 1,550 supplemental or emergency kits during the year, which includes over 2,850 food gift certificates and turkey coupons in october and november, were given out to members of the community. The food bank served an average of 150 individuals and over 80 families monthly, through the Chewelah food bank. Emergency assistance packets and energy saving kits are also provided to community members, as provided by rural resources. Over 2,600 volunteer hours over the course of the year are provided by volunteers to run the food bank and the Senior center, including a volunteer board.
