Program areas at Senior Coastsiders
Senior Coastsiders provided over 50,000 meals in the period july 1, 2022 to june 30, 2023. These meals were served in our dining room or home delivered. We also provide meals to a partner non-profit that serves those with physical and cognitive challenges, and our kitchen is used rent free by two other non-profits to prepare an evening and a breakfast meal for the community. Together these activities decrease the risk of food insecurity among older adults and others on the coast.
Other core programs of Senior Coastsiders in the period july 1, 2022 to june 30 2023 include providing over 1,600 classes and activities that promote physical, mental, social and financial wellbeing and that are offered in-person or at the center; care management services that connect older adults and their families with the resources they need to age successfully; a minor home repair program that helps older adults age in place by improving safety and accessibility; transportation in our newly purchased, wheelchair accessible van that brings people to and from the center, takes them shopping and on outings, and a volunteer program that provides older adults with opportunities that enhance their sense of purpose and meaning.
