Program areas at Seniors in Service
The foster grandparents program provides support to children k-12 through mentoring and tutoring. These children are selected by their teachers/counselors and need assistance academically and/or socially.
The Seniors in Service respite voucher program assists live-in caregivers of someone over the age of 60 who is unsafe to be left alone. These caregivers can be of any age. Their loved one, the care receiver, has the need for assistai1ce in multiple areas of daily living. The caregiver can apply for a 1,000 voucher that enables them to hire care for that loved one - offering the caregiver a much-needed break. This break is so important because the stress of caregiving can often lead to serious health and emotional consequences.
The senior companion program supports independence through basic social support. Services provided to Seniors 60 years and older who live independently but have limited access to outside resources.
Sis connect targets isolated elders who, to remain safe from the pandemic, are at home and have limited contact with others. Smart devices are provided to qualifying individuals, age 60 and over, to allow them access to virtual medical appointments, ability to socialize with family and friends, and order goods and services safely from their homes. Assistance may also be available to cover the cost of wireless internet services.
