Program areas at Share Food Program

Emergency Food relief- Share Food Program is the leading hunger relief organization in the greater philadelphia region and one of the largest independent Food banks in the nation. Share's work targets the region's highest-poverty neighborhoods and serves families and communities facing the challenges of systemic poverty, racism, and marginalization. Through a diverse partner network of nearly 400 Food pantries, mutual aid groups, houses of worship, and other community organizations, Share delivers millions of pounds of nourishing Food to hundreds of thousands of vulnerable children, seniors, and families across philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs of Delaware, montgomery, bucks, and chester counties each month.
Community Food programs-share Food Program's ("Share") core offerings include the administration of the emergency Food assistance Program (tefap), through which it ensures that hungry residents have equitable access to nourishing Food. The agency is also the only nonprofit in the nation to manage the regional national school lunch Program, providing nutritious Food to the region's 305,000 students across 800 schools and 70 districts. In addition, Share feeds 7,500+ vulnerable older adults through its senior Food box Program and leads the region in home deliveries of Food assistance to seniors, with more than 4,400 receiving Food boxes directly at their doorstep through an innovative partnership with doordash. Its philly Food rescue Program sources surplus Food and redistributes it to communities in need, diverting 500,000 lbs. Of fresh Food from landfills every month. Nice roots farm, Share's onsite urban agricultural education project, donates over 4,500 lbs. Of organic produce to the surrounding community each year.
