Project resus: Shared Harvest is a leader in advocacy around the wellbeing of healthcare workers and frontline workers and the campaign to normalize the need for mental health services and make it more accessible to all. In collaboration with community-based organizations and civic leaders, we have designed a new wave of empatech tm (empathy-driven technology) that is low tech and highly human centered.our goal is to address health equity by strengthening the bipoc healthcare pipeline.our work transforms the culture of healthcare by combating structural racism, addressing bipoc workforce inequities, and tackling the issues that lead to practitioner burnout and suicide.our vision is a healthcare system that is equitable and accessible for all; a system where the long-term health and wellbeing of its practitioners and patients are prioritized; and a system that represents and responds to the needs of its community.our plan of action includes the following:1) providing student loan debt support and advocating for increased wages,2) creating professional advancement and pipeline development programs,3) offering mentorship, coaching, and personal support opportunities,4) providing confidential and autonomous mental health services,5) institutionalizing and prioritizing practitioner wellness through policy development,6) creating opportunities for bipoc healthcare workers to participate in project-based service initiatives that boost morale and build a sense of value and connection to the local community, and7) raising awareness of the issues facing the bipoc healthcare workforce through storytelling and our film series.

Student loan debt relief (sldr) & financial wellness program - although health experts stress the importance of health equity and increasing the number of bipoc healthcare workers, nearly one in five physicians of racially ethnically marginalized backgrounds report an increase in experiences of being treated with less dignity and respect by their patients due to their race since the onset of covid-19 (18.1%). This is further exacerbated by the burden of six figures of medical education and student debt that many bipoc health professionals carry. According to the education data initiative, 40% of black graduates have student loan debt from graduate school compared to 22% of white graduates. Additionally, four years after graduation, 48% of black students owe, on average, 12.5% more than they borrowed, while 83% of white students owe 12% less than they borrowed. These debt inequities lead to excessive financial burdens, delayed professional advancement, and high rates of depression/anxiety. The aim of our financial wellness and sldr program is to address these inequities by offering loan relief opportunities, partnering with financial institutions to provide financial education tools, resources and engage in advocacy work with the financial health network and its partner organizations.
