Program areas at Sharlot Hall Historical Society of AZ
The Society dedicated its new 10,000 square foot education center and began offering programs in the facility. The Society completed and dedicated the yavpe ethobotany garden, an organiz, living exhibit that showcases the resourcefulness and creativity of native yavapai living off-the-land that became Arizona. For the garden exhibit, tribal elders provided identifications, usages for these native plants, and the indigenous nativenames for each - from the same elders who were direct descendants of those who did the seasonal rounds describe in the exhibit. In its changing exhibit gallery, the museum installed "toys, it's not all fun and games,- and interactive exhibit focused on the history of toys and featuring over 150 objects. Covid-19 forced the cancellation of several major festival events, such as frontier christmas and the prescott indian art market. However, the Society was able to continue offering its living history adventure program each month. Staff did several outreach educational talks for both schools and adult groups. Staff also led a robust volunteer training program that lasted several months.
