Membership dues and sponsored events: weekly events weekly events include: (a) wednesday networking (twice a month). Grab some coffee and conversation at these informal events that allow individuals to meet and network with more than 40 Chamber members and guests in attendance. (b) coffee/ribbon cuttings introduce you to a new, existing or expanding business on tuesday or thursdays. Monthly events include: (a) membership luncheons are held the second wednesday of each month with up to 150 people in attendance. The featured guest speaker and program changes monthly and is chocked full of information vital to doing business in Shawnee, johnson county and the Kansas city metropolitan, and the state of ks. (b) business after hours are usually on a thursday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. with 50 to 75 member attendees. It includes food, beverages, great networking opportunities and an opportunity for the member business to showcase their business. Annual events include: (a) break out the formal attire for the annual dinner, the premier Shawnee Chamber of commerce event that is always the last saturday in january. The Chamber's biggest event of the year is always sure to entertain, educate and dazzle attendees. There is always something new and different at each event but there will always be a review of the accomplishments of the previous year, introductions of the incoming Chamber leadership and awards will be given. Generous donations for an outstanding live and silent auction and gracious sponsors of the event help build contributions that go to the Shawnee Chamber of commerce scholarship fund. (b) the golf tournament is one of the most popular Chamber events, typically selling out every year. This event is a standard at the Shawnee Chamber, bringing the fun of golf and networking together in one outstanding tournament with great prizes. It is in may and registration is available as a team. This is also one of the chambers best sponsorship opportunities for businesses. Community leadership program: Shawnee tomorrow leadeship program is a community leadership program offering a behind-the-scenes look at the critical issues and challenges facing the Shawnee area. Those selected to be a part of this prestigious group attend sessions that focus on current events, initiatives and future planning sessions. Alumni of the program are some of the best and brightest leaders in the community today. Shop Shawnee: community partnership between the Shawnee dispatch, the city of Shawnee and the Shawnee Chamber of commerce. The campaign encourages residents of Shawnee to shop locally and support local retail and service businesses.

The Shawnee economic development council (sedc) has been helping others succeed since it was established in 1994. The sedc is a partnership effort between the city of Shawnee, Shawnee Chamber of commerce and the Shawnee business community that is in existence to assist Shawnee's business development and growth of current and future business climate. This is done through efforts that would bring new business to Shawnee, such as new corporations, retail and restaurant establishments as well as new manufacturing and light industrial companies. The sedc also helps those businesses already in Shawnee continue to succeed by offering unique business learning opportunities, expansion efforts, networking and sharing of business knowledge. The sedc is proud to be a member of this community that works to help others get ahead for a better future for Shawnee.
