Program areas at She Project
Our Stories Our Voices is an innovative community-based participatory program designed to shift conversations around Black women and HIV prevention living in Jackson Mississippi through peer-to-peer storytelling. We strongly believe that to shift conversations around Black women and HIV prevention the voices of Black women need to be at the center of both clinical and community conversations. Our Stories Our Voices does just that. The proposed program involves a media-based campaign that will promote health and wellness among Black women free from HIV stigma fear and shame through a YouTube series and printed material. Our campaign is designed to promote self-love and self-care by focusing on the beauty and diversity among Black women; and will include women of varying ages sexual orientation body types skin tones and lived experiences. Through the creation of a regional community advisory board Our Stories Our Voices will partner with local Black women to develop and disseminate the proposed media campaign ensuring that new community messengers are born to ensure Black women's voices are heard respected elevated and considered.
The community crisis program seeks to offer support to families during natural disasters such as ice storms tornados and COVID 19.
