Program areas at Shelter Friends

Throughout 2021, Shelter Friends continued with promoting adoptions at the shelter. Covid 19 has prevented us from having off-site adoptions, so it was imperative that we focused on how to adopt, transfer and place shelter animals. Our volunteers donated about 2500 - 3000 hours collectively, amongst 50-60 volunteers, to help promote adoptions at the shelter, provide all foster homes for felines and canines, assist in the care and training of the shelter animals, assist with community outreach and education events, transport animals to and from veterinary care appointments and transfer animals to the shelters adoption partners. We partnered with the shelter to begin monthly vaccination/microchip clinics. The clinics began in November with Rabies and 39 dogs vaccinated, and December was microchips and 60 dogs were microchipped. During that event, 3 dogs came in that were already chipped. These clinics will continue as public interest has indicated its a very needed service in our county. We partnered with the shelter and provide them a grant of $13,000 for spay/neuter and other vet care for feral cats. In 2021, this program contributed to 90 feral cats being RTF returned to field, after surgery and medical attention. We provided veterinary care for approximately 65 animals for a total of $19,674.00
