Access and Service: Shift Community Cycles upcycles used bikes and refurbishes them to like new condition offering the public a low cost alternative to full retail bike pricing as well as a more affordable service department when you need your bike repaired. In addition, donating bicylces to kids in need based on targeting fundraising efforts.
Education: The programs that fulfill our mission are "Learn to Ride" program, which began in the summer of 2022 with a goal to teach people of all ages how to ride bicycles. Shift Community Cycles role in the program is to ensure the safety and comfort of all Learn to Ride participants. We run bicycle safety checks, make sure helmets fit properly, and that each individual feels supported and comfortable as they learn to ride. We also provide youth and adults education and services, teaching basic bicycle mechanics. Riding skills on the road and off road. Route planning and safety. Learn to commute by bicycle and ride in all weather. Build skills to ride to a trailhead with a pack, enjoy the trails, and ride back home safely. Owning a bike comes with the need for maintenance once in a while. Being a part of the Shift membership program means that youll have knowledgeable volunteers on hand walking you through the necessary steps, do-it-yourself style. This results in skill building and lasting bike maintenance experience, saving you money on future trips to the bike shop and wait times around bike repairs. Empowerment through education is one of Shifts cornerstone beliefs, and we cant wait to learn alongside you.
Outreach: In order to provide access to all, we realize that outreach is integral to those we serve. If your community event encourages active transportation and or bicycles we would love to bring Shift to you. Not only are we contracted to offer free repairs, but we also offer a myriad of other fun event ideas such as bike education/bike lock demos, bike washes, and upcycling bike art workshops. Based on your needs we have the staff for different sized bicycle popups. Using our E cargo Bike Moondog and our XL trailer Carla we can haul all that is needed for your pop-up and show up on a bike. We can be a bike shop on wheels, or bring Shift programs to your event. This can serve as an additional draw or be a main attraction to base an event around.
