Program areas at Significant Productions
Significant Production, inc. (the organization), is a performing arts organization, devoted to fostering the development of appreciation for drama, film, and musical arts by bringing high quality, artistic theatrical, film, and musical performances to The Villages, Florida, and surrounding areas of Central Florida. The organization operates primarily out of The Sharon L. Morse Performing Arts Center (the "Sharon") and The Studio Theatre Tierra Del Sol (the "Studio"). The organization's activities with respect to The Sharon include planning each season, which involves identifying and selecting performances that will further The Organization's mission of bringing high quality artistic performances to The Villages and surrounding areas and coordinating with performers and agents. The organization also coordinates with the respective performers to satisfy staging, rigging, lighting, audio-visual, house management, and other production and support needs with respect to each performance. In addition, SPI manages the theater, including ticket sales, usher coordination, hospitality, and safety. The Organization's activities with respect to The Studio involve more direct control over the theatrical productions themselves - in essence, for performances at The Studio, the organization creates everything except for the script. Most performances at The Studio take about 18-24 months from the beginning of the script selection process to the realization of the production on stage. The Studio runs about six shows per year with roughly 140-150 performances. The Organization staff, volunteers and artists select scripts, audition and select cast members, design and execute all phases (designing, hanging, and striking) of lighting, staging (construction, props, scenic painting, wardrobe and costume, etc.), and audio-visual needs for performances, manage the theater (ticket sales, house management, coordination of ushers, safety oversight, etc.), and market productions.
