Program areas at Skagit County Historical Society

Concentrated 3d collection efforts on inventorying and documenting all artifacts on public display, native american artifacts and items accepted by not yet cataloged. Continued identifying items which do not meet our collection policy by preparing them for deaccessioning. Continued focus on scanning and uploading photos into research database.
The Skagit County Historical socieity operates the Skagit County Historical museum in la conner, Washington. Major museum accomplishments include developing and implementing two original featured exhibits: i do: the history of marriage in america & Skagit County from 1850 to the present, and barber historians: just a little off the top. Developed and implemented three short-term exhibits in our north gallery rotating exhibit. Hosted six public lectures on Skagit history through our "topics @ the school" program. Welcomed 870 school age students to education programming at the museum and Skagit city school.
Successfully completed state of Washington grant which allowed us to hire an intern who inventoried, photographed, and uploaded all related data into our research database. Identified items which are not from our area for repatriation. Updated exhibit cases containing native american artifacts and held public event to talk about the process and collection. Presented information and discussed the process and results at the Washington museum association conference in june 2023.
