Build the local Food economy: the jackson hole people's market: the jackson hole people's market is a year-round farmers market and a key program of Slow Food in the Tetons. the purpose of the market is to build the local Food community and provide a venue for producers to sell and for people to access locally produced, fresh, seasonal, high quality Food. the program began in 2010 and now runs weekly during the summer and fall and monthly during the winter and spring. Usda snap benefits are accepted. Slow Food farm stand: Slow Food in the Tetons operates the Slow Food farm stand. This farm stand sells locally and regionally grown produce from small farms. the goal is to provide a venue for farmers to sell high quality, nutrient dense Food that is not being sold in other grocers in the community. Usda snap benefits are accepted.
Festivals and dinners: Slow Food builds community by bringing people together to celebrate Food, Food culture, local agriculture, seasonal foods, and the seasonal harvest. These gatherings introduce farmers and ranchers to community members, provide workshops and skill building around Food systems, and honor Food traditions and Food ways.
Educational programs: Slow Food teaches year-round, farm-to-table cooking classes for kids, cooking and gardening summer camps for kids, and adult cooking and taste education classes. Classes empower students to make healthy Food choices and understand the value of a healthy and resilient local Food system that supports healthy people, is good for the environment, and builds community. Teton Slow Food guide: this is an online educational directory of local Food. the purpose is to provide a resource to help people access and learn about local Food.
Food access: Slow Food in the Tetons increases access to fresh, high quality Food to community members who suffer from Food insecurity and diet related chronic illnesses. This is accomplished by distributing "veggie vouchers" that can be spent at several community locations on healthy grocery items. Slow Food also runs low cost events, the lockhart ranch party and the teton Food tour. the goal of these events is to build and celebrate the local Food community.
