The 17th San Diego BioPharma & 6th Pacific Bio-Partnering Conference:San Diego BioPharma Conference, the flagship event of SABPA, has been featuring some of the most respectful figures in the fields, from potential Nobel laureates and breakthrough innovators to multi-billion-dollar dealmakers. Many exciting stories from San Diego biopharma industry in the past year hit the global headlines and have ignited the passion that further fuels innovations. This year's topics included the pioneering exploration of gene therapies and proteome wide drug discovery, transformative academia research and its translation into life-saving therapeutics, the making of a multi-billion dollar deal, the challenges of navigating the drug R&D paths to ultimate success, and strategies to succeed in the ever-changing global market. SABPA Bio-Partnering is a great platform to explore opportunities in licensing, investment, fund raising, procurement and other collaboration deals. It is designed for people to pre-arrange 1-on-1 face-to-face meetings with potential partners/investors by using the online tool Partnering360*. Participants can upload their profiles to the platform and send invitations to other participants. Once the invitations are accepted, 30-minute private meetings will be arranged automatically. Participants have access to pre-scheduled 1-on-1 meetings in designated meeting areas during the conference, as well as access to Partnering360 database all year round. Bio-Partnering was hosted at the same time and same venue as San Diego Bio-Pharma Conference on June 9, 2018. Program Highlights:a. Numerous other events held by SABPA to address various issues of importance to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries:(a). The 2nd SABPA Frontier in Therapeutics and Diagnostics (FTD) forumThis forum covered three hot topics, including liquid biopsy, gene editing and artificial intelligence. SABPA invited high-caliber speakers to share with audience the latest breakthroughs and their visions in these fields. There were two panel discussions focusing respectively on liquid biopsy and gene editing. Audience had the great opportunities to ask questions, share ideas, learn from the experts, as well as to network with their peers.Program Highlights* Game-changing liquid biopsy assays for early cancer diagnostics* Applications of gene editing in target identification and drug screening* Development of cutting-edge gene therapies using CRISPR technology* Liquid biopsy in drug development and patient care* Showcase of success stories of artificial intelligence in disease diagnostics* Applications of artificial intelligence in addressing unmet medical needs(b) The 21st SABPA Entrepreneur Symposium - Licensing of IP & Tech Transfer in Biotech ArenaThe mission of this symposium is to bring together ambitious members to create a free-thinking and stimulating environment. The committee welcomes experienced entrepreneurs, company executives, venture capitalists to present their real stories, experiences and perspectives.The committee aims to * To provide SABPA members knowledge about entrepreneurship and help those members who wish to pursue their own business interests.* To explore mechanisms that will help stimulate the creation of small and medium businesses to explore innovative methods to create a business enabling environment and strategies that can guide small business to grow and remain competitiveTo foster information exchange, cooperation and interaction among entrepreneurs, investors, established companies, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and academia in San Diego and southern California.In 2018, SABPA held three Entrepreneur Symposium and covered the following three topics. * Licensing of IP & Tech Transfer in Biotech Arena* An Edge to Monetize Intellectual Property in the Greater China Region* Licensing Fundamentals for Business Executives and Startups(c). The 4th Annual SABPA-UCSD Career Development Forum:The goal of this forum is to foster professional growth, career improvement and personal development of young scientists. In the 4th Annual Joint Career Development Forum, co-organized by SABPA and UCSD Postdoc Association, we invited scientists and senior managers from a variety of local industries including life sciences, data science, and engineering to have a panel discussion. The Panelists shared with the audience their perspective of the industry hiring process and the qualifications, experience and many other attributes of successful candidates. d). The 13th Annual Biomedical ForumThe mission of this forum is to provide an attractive platform for entrepreneurs, scientists, investors, executives, and students to promote life sciences, biotechnology, and alliances across the biomedical industry in Southern California and Pacific Asia. The annual biomedical forum is one of the flagship events organized by SABPA OC/LA, which gathered elite speakers and attracted more than 100 attendees to discuss the development in the field of therapeutics and diagnostics.
The 14th Annual Pacific Forum & 7th SABPA Bio-Partnering:As one of the flagship annual conferences organized by SABPA, Pacific Forum (PF) draws over 500 life sciences professionals from across the Pacific every year. This year's Pacific Forum packed with many top-notch speakers to discuss recent industry success stories and new models of collaborations from leaders of biomedical and pharmaceutical industry across the Pacific Rim.
