Program areas at Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer
The Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer's (sitc) 38th annual meeting & pre-conference programs (sitc 2023) provided a multidisciplinary educational and interactive environment focused on improving the outcome for current and future patients with Cancer by incorporating strategies based on basic and applied Cancer Immunotherapy. The annual meeting consisted of cutting-edge research presentations by experts in the field, oral and poster abstract presentations and ample opportunity for structured and informal discussions, including important networking opportunities. In addition, the meeting includes updates on major national and international initiatives coming from academia, government and industry, as well as important Society projects.
The advances in Cancer Immunotherapy (aci) series hosted fifteen cme-, cne- and cpe-certified programs in 2023. Six of the programs were held in person and streamed virtually, and nine of the programs were held virtually only. The series also featured eight online interactive courses and five specialty webinars. The series was designed to provide education to patient care providers and others who wish to learn the basic principles of tumor immunology and Immunotherapy, and to improve their ability to integrate Immunotherapy into state-of-the-art clinical management for their patients. This intended audience included clinical oncologists, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, emergency physicians, allied health professionals, other patient care providers, students and patient advocates.
Sitc's forward fund is an initiative established by sitc in 2012 to stimulate the future of the science, development and application of Cancer immunology and Immunotherapy through financially supporting its education and research. Since inception, the forward fund has awarded more than $5 million toward programs, grants and initiatives that support early career scientists through research and education. From the generosity of our donors, hundreds of early career scientists' careers have been shaped by the forward fund. By providing fellowships, young investigator awards and the one-of-a-kind sitc sparkathon, sitc is inspiring the next generation, advancing the science and tackling the hurdles facing the field.

Cig program - the sitc Cancer Immunotherapy guidelines program is a collection of clinical practice guidelines (cpgs) developed by multi-disciplinary panels of experts who draw from their own practical experience as well as evidence in the published literature and clinical trial data to develop evidence- and consensus-based recommendations on when and how to use Immunotherapy to help improve outcomes for patients with Cancer. These cpgs offer a vital resource for the practicing oncology community. Sitc uses as a model the institute of medicine's 2011 "standards for developing trustworthy clinical practice guidelines" to ensure a fair, transparent and balanced process for creating the cpgs. Each cpg expert panel is comprised of a comprehensive mix of academic physicians and researchers, nurses, patients, and patient advocates invited from institutions across the united states.
