Society for Technology in Anesthesia

The Society for Technology in Anesthesia had approximately 315 members during 2016. The Society held its annual meeting at the four seasons resort in palm beach, Florida. This meeting focused on 1) discussing how Anesthesia Technology fits into major structural changes within the healthcare landscape, 2) examining current problems facing anesthesiologists that can be addressed with Technology, including quality improvement, outcome tracking and advances in inhalational agent monitoring, 3) reviewing cutting-edge research in the field of Anesthesia Technology, 4) discussing the current state of perioperative surgical home (psh) and how Technology can be used to achieve psh goals, 5) discussing the peer-review process and how to be an effective reviewer for a scientific journal, 6) networking for mentees and mentors, with didactic workshop to discuss mentorship, 7) exploring current and future clinical applications for 3d printing: medical device design, anatomic models, procedure planning and bioprinting, and 8) investigating current big data applications designed to track Anesthesia outcomes. The meeting offered 18 american medical association continuing medical education credits provided by amedco. in 2016, the Society also hosted panels at the international Anesthesia research Society's annual meeting in san francisco, California, and the american Society of anesthesiologists' annual meeting in chicago, Illinois.
