Description
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Northern Virginia (SPCA NOVA) is a volunteer-based, non-profit, private organization. We were established by local citizens to rescue domestic cats and dogs from cruelty, neglect and abandonment. We rescue hundreds of cats and dogs each year. SPCA NOVA is a "no-kill" organization that does not euthanize healthy, adoptable cats and dogs. We don't have a traditional shelter. Our cats live in foster homes and our dogs live either in foster homes or a private kennel until adopted.

Program areas at SPCA NOVA

Promote animal welfare by rescuing and rehabilitating abused and abandoned animals for permanent adoption within the DC Metro area. The program includes humane education through the websites resources and phone hotline. Recognizing the connection with domestic violence, staff provides animal care information and additional community resources. Staff responded to calls to assist animals in distress. There were approximately 603 beneficiaries of these program services.
Education and assistance for access to low-cost spay/neuter services. Provide financial support in the event of hardship cases. There were approximately 3043 beneficiaries of these program services.
