Government relations:provides representation to members and Affiliates before government. Positively influences the passage of rational laws and regulations that allow member companies to operate in a productive manner as good corporate citizens. On issues as wide-ranging as reforming the toxic substances control act (tsca), to authorizing the Chemical facility anti-terrorism standards(cfats), to international trade and the resource conservation and recovery act (rcra). Socma's advocacy efforts continue to engage legislators and regulators alike through traditional, social media and grassroots mobilization.
Member services:maintains current members, recruits new members and provides membership events throughout the year. Accelerates the potential for members' growth by creating commercial and networking opportunities, and strengthening members' business and operations through value-added services.
Technical and safety:provides an environmental, health, safety and security (ehs &s) management program for members and an industry Chemical operations training tool for companies to incorporate best practices and improve environmental, health, safety & security (ehs&s) performance. The ehs&s chemstewards program facilitates the successful implementation of best practices for member companies. Through the chemstewards portal, the management and compliance of the ehs&s program provides members companies an easy-to-use resource that saves time and money by having all chemstewards and related ehs&s documents in one centralized repository. The web-based repository system allows for more efficient management of the chemstewards program for members companies. Members have the ability to share more ehs&s information and increases the productivity for those managing this important function at their respective Chemical manufacturing facilities. The Chemical operations training tool is designed for Chemical manufacturing plants in need of superior operator training with interactive 3d animations of process equipment and self-guided exercices. The tool is a comprehenisveprogram and available through an annual subscription.
Association management services (ams):provides products and services to socma Affiliates. Socma specializes in the professional management of industry-specific groups with defined issues and objectives related to the Chemical manufacturing industry. Socma provides the management, professional and technical services necessary to meet specific complex regulatory, testing, and commercialissues.marketing and communications:provides marketing and public relations services to promote socma and the specialty and fine Chemical industry through various platforms and communications activities. These include press release distribution, social media, the socma website and various newsletters and publications.cscs:represents chemical-specific consortia focused on addressing scientific, regulatory, and technical issues of common interest to the specialty Chemical industry. Cscs manages the use and oversight of all consortia studies completed by and commissioned through socma over the last four decades.
