Program areas at Solutions for Living
The parent mentor program is a home-based service focusing on building parenting skills through the development of a nurturing, non-authoritarian relationship between the parent-mentor and the client. The program represents a diverse approach to prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect by being flexible and adapting to the needs of the parents. The program provided service to 113 publicly sponsored clients in fiscal year 2022.
The mediation program offers dispute resolution services to high school students who seek an alternative process to the court system. Disputes among peers may be resolved in confidential mediation sessions. The service provides intake for the purpose of explaining the mediation process and helping participants develop realistic expectations; a non-threatening, information atmosphere conducive to direct and open communication; a trained volunteer mediator capable of impartiality, skilled in modeling positive, constructive communication and experienced in helping mediation participants to draw upon their own strengths; and follow-up for the purpose of supporting participants in following through with any agreements reached.
The conflict of interest program offers dispute resolution services to individuals who seek an alternative process in the court system. The program delivered 12 cases in fiscal year 2022 before closing on september 10, 2021.
