Program areas at Solutions in Hometown Connections
The English Language Learning Program is a multi-generational program that engages refugees and immigrants and their preschool aged children. The program focuses on individuals with low or no literacy in their native language who face significant barriers to participating in their new communities. Online English language instruction and in-person activities weave together to form a supportive bridge that helps participants comfortably move from the isolation of their homes into the wider community. The Program offers citizenship preparation classes for refugees, asylees, SIVs, and other immigrant families, particularly those who need literacy-based instruction. The Program empowers individuals with limited formal education who often encounter barriers accessing English programs, workforce opportunities, and citizenship preparation. The Community Connections Program connects newly arrived refugees and immigrants residing in Prince Georges and Montgomery counties, MD to services and resources.The English Together Program is a fee for service that provides English Language instruction to parents of students enrolled in the public school system.
