Some Other Place provides emergency services to indigent or catastrophe-stricken families. Families in need can receive food, shelter, utility assistance, housing assistance, medication assistance, clothing, household/other in-kind assistance, special programs assistance, and/or referral assistance. Since its creation, 2,326 families representing 5,816 individuals have benefited from their services. Some Other Place is located in Beaumont, TX.

Program areas at Some Other Place

Emergency services provided food, shelter, utility assistance, housing assistance, medication assistance, clothing, household/other in-kind assistance, special programs assistance, and/or referral assistance. 1,850 families, representing 4,625 individuals, received emergency services (does not include families interviewed and served through Some Other Place special programs). The Some Other Place home delivery meal program currently has 295 homebound individuals on the program based on their needs with approximately 30,000 meals delivered. The Back to School Program served 682 children with new school clothing, supplies & backpacks. Additional children were served with school supplies following the actual BTS distribution. The Thanksgiving store served 420 families with an average of 1,092 persons. The Thanksgiving Day meal provided approximately 350 meals served on site and 298 meals home delivered by over 110 volunteers and 520 meals were prepared to be delivered throughout the community. The Nutrition Center served 74,977 meals during the year, both on-site and home-delivered. Henry's Place, which provides a brief respite from the streets for the homeless, received approximately 150 visits made by homeless individuals. The Giving Tree Christmas program served 1,092 children, 320 home delivered meals, and over 758 nursing home residents. The Christmas Day meal served 180 meals on site and 135 meals were home delivered by volunteers. SOP received (as best as we could keep count) over 4,200 phone calls for assistance in 2023. All of these services are made possible with support from the local community and volunteers.
