Program areas at Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition

Safe Routes to School program taught bike and pedestrian safety clases in sixty local schools. Participated in county-wide Vision Zero Advisory CommitteeProvided valet bike parking at community events; received more requests than we could acommodate. Led Bicycle Adventure Camp and learn to Ride classes in collaboration with local recreation departments. Organized local Bike to Work Day events. Stopped the city of Rohnert Park from closing a bike lane on Roberts Lake Road. Convinced Sonoma County Regional Parks and the City of Healdsburg to remove, repaint, restripe bolards after a cyclist died from colliding with one. Produced the North Bay's first Ciclovia event in collaboration with City of Petaluma. Worked with SMART staff to improve pathway maps and to conduct bike/pedestrians counts. Produced video PSA "Don't Put it in the Bike lane". Provided support to local bike groups Bikeable Santa Rosa, Safe Streets Petaluma, Move! Healdsburg and Bike Sebastopol. Supported the families of traffic victims by attending court hearings and memorial services. Presented at the California Climate and Energy Forum and the County Supervisors' Climate Town Hall. Cochaired the Transportation Committee of the Funding for Climate Change Program.
