Established in 1876 the Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York is devoted to educating the public about The American Revolution. Members are descendants of those who fought in or the Revolutionary War or otherwise placed themselves at risk.

Program areas at Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York

A. Museum programs and activities: interpretation and preservation of exhibition spaces (including historically interpreted spaces) and virtual exhibitions. Lectures by authors and historians; tours (museum, neighborhood and virtual); educational programs, lessons and games for children; digital educational content through the fraunces tavern museum blog, online collections database, the website's object of the month feature, podcasts, and various social media platform postings; special events including the museum's book award presentation and the re-enactment of george Washington's farewell at fraunces tavern, and collaborative events with peer institutions.
B. commemorative and fellowship: annual commemorations and celebrations of events including nathan hale day, evacuation day, the battles of lexington and concord, tallmadge day, george Washington's birthday, flag day, constitution week, independence day and summer tavern night which can include dinners, ceremonies, educational presentations,symposiums and parades. Annual presentations of awardsincluding the knox trophy at west point and the distinguished patriot of the year at the society's george Washington birthday ball. Active participation by the society's color guard at numerous society and public commemorative events, including memorial day and saratoga-yorktown commemorations and the lower historical association manhattan independence day parade.
