Service Objective Awards - The organization awards grants to 501(C)(3) organizations in support of the organization's mission which seeks to improve the lives of women and girls in greater Kansas City. During 2022-23 fiscal year, Soroptimist awarded a total of $68,100 in Service Objective Awards. Organizations receiving awards included: Bridge Leadership Academy to help support a six-week leadership/tutoring program for 30 girls; CAPA(Child Abuse Prevention Association) to help offer support for families suffering from child abuse; Cultivate KC to help provide training for refugees in urban farming; Flourish Furnishings Inc to help provide beds and pillows for new residents; Hope House, Inc. to provide legal needs for the safety/support of victims; Shepherd's Center of Kansas City Central to provide Adventures in Learning classes for 160 adults; Transition Zone, Inc. to provide training for skilled construction jobs for girls; The Single Mom, Inc. to provide a financial literacy course for single moms.
The Soroptimist Foundation funds a grant to the Soroptimist International of Kansas City Club to assist the Club in the fundraising services it provides for the Foundation. The award totaled $4,051.
Recognition Programs - Each year Soroptimist presents 3 "Live Your Dream Awards." The Live Your Dream Awards assist women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills, and employment prospects. Five volunteers judge and select multiple applicants by reviewing the applications of each applicant then conducting a formal judging process in which each woman is interviewed individually.
