Description
Providing quality, comprehensive early childhood education to families and children currently enrolled, to expose the children to various experiences in a learning environment that will help develop them socially, intellectually, physically and emotionally in a manner appropriate to their developmental and chronological age. To support and refer community parents to quality services such as education, health nutrition, social services and parent involvement through networking with outside agencies; thus empowering parents by moving them from dependency to independence.

Program areas at South Bronx Head Start

South Bronx Head Start Program is funded through a grant from the federal Head Start Program, to provide multi-cultural educational services to children in two Community Districts in the Bronx. 90 of the children come from families that are below the poverty level and 10 are handicapped.
South Bronx Head Start provides comprehensive early child development for pre-school children including handicapped children.. It provides services to children under grants from NYS Universal Pre-Kindergarten program.
Funds received through N.Y.S. DOH CACFP are used to provide food and nutritional services to these children.
