Program areas at South Carolina ETV
TELEVISION PRODUCTION EXPENSES: SCEC produces and/or presents programs used by South Carolina ETV for broadcast locally on SCETV's four statewide channels and nationally on PBS and its affiliate stations. These programs are funded in part by restricted grants from foundations, corporations and individuals as well as state and federal governmental entities. SCEC, along with the ETV Endowment of South Carolina and SCETV, also contributes substantial in-kind gifts to ensure program completion and distribution. During FY24, 19 programs were in production. Since its founding in 1982, SCEC has managed more than $120 million in restricted program production grants.
RADIO PRODUCTION EXPENSES: SCEC produces and/or presents programs used by South Carolina Public Radio for broadcast locally on SC Public Radio's nine radio stations and nationally on NPR and its affiliate stations. These programs are funded in part by restricted grants from foundations, corporations and individuals as well as state and federal governmental entities. SCEC, along with the ETV Endowment of South Carolina and SC Public Radio, also contributes substantial in-kind gifts to ensure program completion and distribution. Since its founding in 1982, SCEC has managed more than $120 million in restricted program production grants. In FY24, four programs were in production. Programs included "Walter Edgar's Journal", "ColaJazz", "South of Spooky "Rooted Rhythm".
ANCILLARY - DISTANCE EDUCATION PROGRAMS: SCEC partners with Converse University, an accredited, liberal arts university, to offer 24 online graduate-level mathematics and ELA education courses. These courses are intended for certified teachers who are seeking recertification and include graduate-level mathematical pedagogy and math content for the elementary, middle and secondary teacher. A limited number of these courses can also be used toward a graduate degree at Converse University. SCEC also offers an additional 15 online professional development mathematics courses for teacher advancement credit. During FY24, SCEC processed a total of 266 graduate level and 61 professional development course registrations.
