The corporation was a homebuilder. It acquired land or developed lots and constructed single family houses and townhomes for sale to low and moderate income households. Sccb ceased contracting activities at the end of fiscal year 2015 and during fiscal year 2017 sold its remaining undeveloped land to pay off acquisition lenders. Subsequent to june 30, 2019, sccb disposed of its final parcel of land and thereafter merged into South County housing corporation, a related non-profit organization, in september 2019.
