Program areas at South County Community Services
Emergency assistance - South County Community Services (sccs) provides emergency financial assistance to individuals and families in the South County area who are experiencing hardship due to loss of employment, unexpected expenses, or other destabilizing events. Assistance includes help with utilities, eviction prevention, medical expenses, clothing, transportation and the holidays. Sccs operates a loaves and fishes pantry four days per week and offers a mi department of health and human Services kiosk, scanner, and navigator for area residents to use when filing for state benefits.
Program for adults with disabilities - the wednesday winner program is a free program designed for adults with disabilities. Wednesday winners serves individuals who live in kalamazoo County either independently, with their family, in group homes, or in some other supported living arrangement. The members meet weekly for exercise, activities, social time and a nutritious meal. Transportation is included for residents who live in the South County service area. Special emphasis is placed on providing learning experiences with trips and hands-on activities that stimulate the mind and expand the views of our members.
Senior programming - South County Community Services (sccs) is committed to helping seniors age in place safely and securely by having a senior outreach coordinator to provide personal assistance and access to Services programming to meet other needs from partner agencies.
