Program areas at South Florida Community Development Coalition
We held eight virtual policy roundtables attended by more than 250 members and stakeholders in all, featuring 20 local leaders and subject-matter- experts. The dynamic topics focused on trends, guidelines, recent events, and innovations regarding housing affordability, small business Development, and Community resilience. Each presentation was followed by robust group discussion on solutions, needs, and opportunities to foster collective impact through public policy advocacy and systems change. This year, the miami affordability project (map) integrated the impacts of climate change with the newest iteration, the climate and equity mapping platform (camp). This innovative suite of free accessible resources was co-designed to inform policymakers, developers, and other stakeholders of the impending impacts from extreme heat on miami's underserved communities. Sfcdc co-facilitated five Community engagement workshops attended by more than 50 practitioners, both in-person and virtual, for feedback and input on the platforms design and utility before its launch in december. For public land for public good, we worked closely alongside the steering committee. We coordinated and organized several Community engagements including town halls, public hearings, press conferences, and op-eds where we empowered allapattah residents and other local stakeholders to voice their concerns and needs based on our previous 2021 recommendations report. We represented the Coalition in numerous leadership roles, engagements, and initiatives at the local and state levels.
