Fiscally Sponsored ProgramsSESEC fiscally sponsored the following projects Pathwaves WA - prepares, through Fellowship Cohorts, individuals for early childhood education policy professions. Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity SEED National is the western affilication of the SEED Program that was founded by and housed at Wellesley College. SEED works with educators to explore their indivual belief systems that are at the root of racisms, sexism, ageism, etc.
Advocacy Family Engagement - SESEC manages a bi-annual Family Engagement Survey to assess opinions of families of color on the engagement and communiciation practices of local schools. The survey results are used to affect positive changes in those practices to make them more culturally aware and to make schools a more inviting and welcoming place for families of color and immigrant/refugee families. This also includes Advocacy and Policy Cohort which focuses on developing stronger, more effective voices in the Southeast Seattle community to champion equity in education for their children.Using a cohort approach, APC engages emerging community leaders and parents/guardians in a series of trainings consisting ofStarting with Relationships and Racial Equity, Understanding the basics of school budgets, and family engagement
Coalition - SESEC hosts monthly coalition meetings where topics of community interest are presented and discussed and community recommendations are shared with the presenters. Topics include planned capital expenditures by Seattle Public Schools, disciplinary policies, educational equity and justice, histories of indiginous peoples. SESEC also hosts an annual conversation on race and equity.
