The World in Transition Online Project: This project is taking the Center's existing print versions of its World in Transition multimedia educational materials on seven regions of the world and converting them into a digital format for today's electronic classrooms. The original materials are being updated and significantly expanded in this process. Before this work began, a study was commissioned by The Halle Foundation to determine the need for the World in Transition materials to be placed in an online format. Input from the Georgia The World in Transition Online Project: Department of Education, plus twelve county social studies coordinators was received. Because no comprehensive online social studies materials on world regions exist that meet the Georgia Standards of Excellence, the results were overwhelmingly positive that the materials were needed and would be used. This study was published in November 2017.Work on the Europe in Transition Online unit, the first unit being developed, has continued throughout the year with cooperation and input from the Georgia Department of Education.A new and separate project is the development of an eighth region for the World in Transition Online series. This will be North American in Transition Online and will consider the countries of Canada, The United States, and Mexico. Preliminary planning and fundraising has begun on this project.
Additional activities include providing lectures and speeches on current international issues to civic groups throughout in the Atlanta area.
