Program areas at Southern Grit Advocacy
Awareness: 21,000 people were made aware of human trafficking and prevention strategies through social media.
Prevention education: 3,656 students were empowered to protect themselves from abuse and exploitation. Southern Grit Advocacy (sga) continued as a community education partner with the national center for missing & exploited children since 2021. Sga also promoted a faith-based bible study to churches, and other prevention curriculum to youth-serving organizations.
Training: 396 adults were trained to recognize and report red flags of human trafficking and online solicitation of a minor. They received training on how to help survivors with a trauma-informed approach and they were introduced to prevention strategies to protect minors from predators. Three board members who worked in law enforcement received training in human trafficking awareness and prevention strategies. They shared their expertise in the workplace, including a school district, shared it with other officers, and educated students in a rural school district. Their knowledge helped them in their jobs.
