In 2022, the committee surveyed over 600 Black Nashvillians about public safety, organized people to participate in the public budget hearing, hosted two Peoples Movement Assemblies, hosted two youth organizing trainings and conducted three leadership trainings.

In 2023, the Southern Movement Committee organized for community-driven forms of public safety, trained over 30 new Youth Assembly members and 60 new leaders, increased civic education with city council watch evenings, improved political education with our monthly book club, held four mass meetings, hosted a Youth-led Peoples Movement Assembly and Youth-led Redefining Public Safety Town Hall, knocked on thousands of doors to get out the vote, engaged over 15,000 people through phone banking/canvassing/tabling, held three candidate forums, donated 300 turkeys in North Nashville and 40 pairs of sneakers to middle school students, and hosted three Political Engagement Concerts and four Peoples Movement Assemblies in Nashville and across the state.
