Southern Ohio Healthcare Network

Sohcn has facilitated and continues to facilitate additional grant funding from the united states department of agriculture rural development, appalachian regional commission, and federal communications commission to develop a fiber optic Network available to health care providers in a thirty-four (34) county region of Southern Ohio and is working on applications for additional funding from other federal, state and private sources to: - deploy broadband technology to support health care innovation and general economic development; - expand telemedicine availability; - implement electronic health record systems across a wide array of providers in the region; - participate and support regional, state and national health information exchanges; - create and utilize region-wide patient databases for research purposes; and - develop and test effectiveness of trial programs to improve health care effectiveness and efficiency.
