Abstinence Education ProgamStudents Taught - 1,650For fifteen years, the Southern Ohio Pregnancy Center has funded and provided an Abstinence Program in the schools (beginning with the 2007-2008 school year). Students are taught the consequences of behavior that puts them at risk for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. They are taught not only the physical consequences, but also the long-term consequences concerning their life goals. When the program began in 2007, Highland County was 4th in the state for teen pregnancy. Highland County is now 29th in the state.
Earn While You LearnClients Participating - 281Earn While You Learn is a program that the Center uses with all clients who request material aid. Through the Earn While You Learn program, clients have the opportunity to earn Baby Bucks. Clients are required to complete lessons offered online, through texts or by visiting the Center inperson. Lessons cover parenting topics such as potty training, discipline, budgeting, healthy eating habits, etc. Clients can save thier Baby Bucks or use them at each visit. The program has helped clients become better parents through the different stages of the lives of their children.

Our parenting classes afford the Center the opportunity to teach new parents and also those with young children how to be the best parents they can be. These classes have become the most sought after services that the Center offers.Highland County Childtens Services and the Highland County Court Systerm request the Centers services as part of the case plans for parents whose children have been temporarily placed in foster care. Parenting classes for first-time parents (Circle of Friends/Road to Fatherhood) continues to grow and is offered twice each year (2 1/2 hours a week for eight consecutive weeks) and, along with HUGS, is taught on a continual basis day-to-day either at the Center, online or by text.
