Program areas at Sow Good Now
35 elementary aged youth were joined together with the Malvern Swim Association for a day learning water safety and talking about community. Student Athlete Bella Anderson worked alongside her teammates gaining the support of her peers and created a video advocating for the event. They raised over $800 to buy swimsuits, goggles, and towels for the youth. Together, they packed the individually sized swim items in backpacks and had them ready when the youth arrived at the pool. Additionally, because of Bella's extra fundraising, Sow Good Now was able to offer swim safety books to all participants as well. A month later, Bella spoke about her experiences in front of over 200 people at the Sow Good Now Golf Outing. The activity based philanthropic opportunities at Sow Good Now continue to yield ongoing examples like this but we really need your help to continue to do our work.
Student Athlete Emily Williams started this GiveBack and has led the efforts each year! Jefferson University Softball team and 30 girls with The Phillies Urban Youth League came together for a GiveBack focusing on the importance of introducing philanthropy at a young age. The mentors were able to share their time, talent, and treasure with players younger and less experienced than themselves. Mental Health expert Scott Fox attended and shared his tips and tricks for dealing with anxiety both on the field and off. Both the athletes and the youth from Philadelphia took part in a hands-on demonstration led by Scott and left with a new perspective on handling adversity. This GiveBack is 5 years old and has morphed into a great relationship where the youth continue to stay in touch with the athletes throughout the year.
On April 20th, led by Coach Mary Shimko, the Women's Soccer Team supported their local Boys and Girls Club by sharing soccer, friendship, conversations about campus life, and philanthropy. The players held a clinic, advocated for the cause of education, and collectively granted $1000 to Friends of the Children of Boston whose mission is to intentionally serve youth facing the greatest obstacles, and $250 to the Waltham Boys and Girls Club whose mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.. We are so grateful for Sheryl Seller, Assistant Director of The Sillerman Center's for her incredible support and guidance toward the success of this relationship, as we renew our agreement to continue to collaborate for another four years!
Sow Good Now offered additional give-back programs including softball, volleyball, etc.
