Program areas at Spark
Educating about gender equality and philanthropy: we strengthened programming that deepens the next generation's understanding of gender equality and philanthropy. We executed 46 programs with 2,032 registrants. Highlights include a series of ted-style talks focused on female founders and funders, an ongoing longreads series covering current social justice issues, and a partnership event with rise up to educate our community about best practices for supporting women leaders around the globe.
Connecting the next generation with gender equality movement:we connected the next generation to the gender equality movement above all by introducing them to Spark's grantees and partners like rise up, global fund for women and blossom. Spark members not only helped raise $34,000 for our 9 grantees, they also got to know them personally through the pro bono support they provided. For example, the volunteer efforts of Spark members helped ruwced in cameroon receive a 88,000 grant, and tanma federation in malaysia received new infographics displaying their impact.
Skill-building for the gender equality movement:we increased opportunities for the next generation to develop and deploy skills needed to advance gender equality. We did this by providing 678 emerging leaders with trainings in fundraising (champions program) and grantmaking (investment, vetting, & impact committees). This represents an 11% year-over-year increase in total number of young people participating in leadership development opportunities at Spark.
