Relief aid: thousands of people became victims of russian aggression, experiencing threat on safety, loss of home, loss of income, loss of infrastructure, abandonment of elderly, loss of family members, neighbors and friends. We have supported hot meals and food distribution for people that have remained in ukraine and were unable or unwilling to evacuate . Through ywam Kyiv we were able to distribute over 20,000 food boxes and feed over 10,000 people with hot meals.
First 100 days of war were very crucial for evacuation, because the war came in so sudden many people were stranded in "hot zone" locations, living in constant threat for their lives. We were able to provide over 20 vehicles for different volunteering initiatives to go into high risk places to rescue people and bring them into safety. Over 1000 people were rescued by ywam Kyiv and many more through other initiatives. We also supported opening of several new refugee locations providing temporary living for the displaced.
Thousands of people in Kyiv region have lost their homes during the first 45 days of full invasion. In support of ywam Kyiv 100 families were able to receive a temporary home in makarion region, north east of Kyiv.
Youth, kids and volunteers training:many children, youth have remained in the country as ukraine is suffering from the tragic events of this war. Some children and youth do not leave staying with their fathers (men age 18-65 are not allowed to leave the country), some youth do not leave because they choose to stay and serve their country as it's undergoing this tragedy. Nevertheless all those young people living their lives or volunteering to help others are going through a tremendous amount of stress and we realize that their emotional, physical and spiritual health requires nurturing. Through ywam Kyiv we were able to run many kids and youth events: 1 day events, over a weekend, vbs, volunteers training, multiple of one on one meetings, bringing in counselors and other resources to provide the needed support.
