Program areas at SHHC
Squirrel Hill Health Center continues to grow steadily; in 2023 the Center served more than 9,500 patients at two full time fixed sites, three part-time satellite sites, and on the mobile medical unit, which brings healthcare to isolated residents of allegheny county. Outpatient primary medical services include prenatal and women's Health care, pediatrics, family medicine, internal medicine, and geriatrics. Integrated behavioral Health care, available to patients of shhc's primary medical clinicians, includes psychiatric evaluations and treatment, individual and group therapy, medication management and peer support for a variety of behavioral Health diagnoses, as well as integrated medication assisted treatment for opioid addiction. Shhc provides preventive, restorative and emergency dental services at the Squirrel Hill location only. Shhc also provides on-site lab services, access to affordable prescription medications, assistance in insurance enrollment, extensive care coordination, and interpretation in 150 different languages, with staff members who are fluent in nepali, spanish, arabic, russian, french, and american sign language. A clinician is on call 24/7 and shhc makes house calls to homebound patients. The Center passed its most recent hrsa operational site visit in december 2021 and is deemed for malpractice coverage through the federal tort claims act.
