St Leos Soup Kitchen serves the Detroit Community, believing that all men and women are gifts from God. The non-profit organization offers sustenance and other services free of charge. Prior to March 2020, it provided around 750 meals each week, along with haircuts, shower facilities, food and clothing pantries. The Soup Kitchen also provided space for Malta Medical and Dental Clinic at no cost. Due to Covid-19 and substantial flooding at its facility in 2021, the organization had to find a new location. Its new address is 8642 Woodward Avenue in Detroit.

Program areas at St Leos Soup Kitchen

Prior to March 2020 St. Leos Soup Kitchen provided approximately 750 meals per week, free haircuts, shower facilities, and food and clothing pantries. In addition, the Soup Kitchen provided space at no charge to Malta Medical and Dental Clinic, which provides medical and dental care at no charge to the uninsured and underinsured. This March 2020 forced the Soup Kitchen to close temporarily. The Soup Kitchen reopened on a reduced schedule, serving an average of 1,000 meals per month. The food and clothing pantries were reopened, but showers and haircuts were discontinued with plan to re-open these services in 2021.
