Program areas at Standardbred Retirement Foundation

The Standardbred Retirement Foundation rescues horses from shipping for slaughter, and in need of homes. It provides rehabilitation such as medical; dental; proper refeeding; veterinary attention; farrier, care, and rest. The objective is homing to carefully screened adopters, however, many horses remain under srfs care and expense for life. Annually srf helps 500 -800 new horses in need and follows up via veterinary reports from adopters semi-annually for life. Approximately 400-500 homes are secured annually, and an average of 500 horses remain under srf's care at any one time.
