Program areas at Statewide Organizing for Community Empowerment Resource Project
SOCM Resource Project works to enhance leadership skills of individuals and community groups. Programs and training include public speaking facilitation research power analysis writing good editorials anti-racism workshops strategic analysis how to frame and win issues how to agree to disagree conflict management how to talk with decision makers how to do voter registration and other development training as needed and identified. This program serves community members across the State of Tennessee. The program is the basis for grassroots community organizing and happens indirectly on a daily basis doing program work and directly as scheduled.
Fiscal management of Nashville Living Wage with an economic justice focus and oversight for other small groups through the Cloud Mountain Project that have an environmental justice focus.
Public education housing justice research government accountability and public participation. The program serves community members across the State of Tennessee with special emphasis on marginalized communities. These activities are a primary part of our grassroots community organizing efforts and occur on a daily basis through email and phone conversations traditional and social media and direct action.
