Program areas at Stitching Hearts Worldwide
In 2023 Stitching Hearts Worldwide SHW handmade and delivered 3,474 Quilts, 714 Sleeping Mats, 4,290 Backpacks, 4,749 Baby Items and 2001 Loveys. We had 16,703 Volunteers give 220,857 hours of service. SHW was able to provide 615 Quilts to the Granite School YESS and Common Thread Foundation homeless youth programs. These organizations serve children ranging in age from Kindergarten through High School and a few years older than that. Many youth are in the Foster Care program, but many are sleeping in cars, couches and in tents. We were able to hear back from some of the case workers about the reaction from some of the students receiving a quilt on their birthdays. They were so grateful for their gift and could not believe someone made it for them. One boy asked if the case worker could call his Foster family to come pick the quilt up so that it would not get stolen from him on the bus going home.
SHW partnered with NuSkin again for their Force For Good Day of Service. We prepared beforehand and helped their employees on their day of service fill gift backpacks for children going through surgeries in three different countries. These 1,100 backpacks included 3,300 toys, 1,100 Loveys, 600 handmade dolls and 500 handmade Alabrija stuffed animals with teeth to help the children learn how to brush their own teeth. All these items went to a South American Cleft Palate Hospital, The Primary Childrens hospital in Utah and a Childrens Hospital in Ukraine . We helped ship the items to Mexico and to Germany, and hand deliver to the Primary Childrens Hospital here in Utah.
Lifting Hands International LHI has been helping the IRCs Refugee Replacement Programs agencies set up apartments with necessary supplies, furniture and blankets for the Refugees being sent to Utah. This is an ongoing request LHI asks from SHW. We were happy to be able to provide them with 958 Quilts this year.
