Therapeutic riding lessons: sunday through thursday of each week we serve 80-90 individuals with developmental or physical disabilities. Students are taught basic horsemanship by a path (professional association of therapeutic horsemanship) certified instructor. Lessons are customized to the individuals abilities and goals and objectives are set between parent and instructor. Instructors use feedback other therapeutic providers such as ot, pt, speech etc. To assist students with their physical and developmental goals.
Equine assisted wellness and recovery programs: Stockhands works with community organizations like south east health, safe harbor peer support, Delaware county juvenile court programming and local schools to offer programming for children and adults who are struggling with mental health and addiction recovery. This incorporates our empowered youth school learning program and various peer support partnerships.
Veterans and first responder support programs: Stockhands' veterans program partners with Delaware county veteran services and Delaware county veterans court. Under the leadership of Stockhands' co-founder and marine corps veteran, tim funk, we provide assistance to veterans in need of housing, navigating the va system, special court dockets, or other similar essential services. On average, we assist five to 10 veterans a week with community service, transportation to court hearings, job preparation, and establishing connections within the community to assist in working through physical and emotional trauma related to their service. Members of our veterans group work together in our outreach program where we assist veterans with disabilities and hardships by doing home repairs, cleaning yards, constructing in-home handicap accessibility structures, and tending two community gardens that provide fresh produce to m.a.s.h. Food pantries. Our veterans night occurs the first and third friday of each month to provide an opportunity for veterans to receive equine assisted therapeutic services while communing with other veterans and seeking support and resources. Our first responders night occurs the second and fourth friday of each month to provide an opportunity for first responders to receive equine assisted therapeutic services while communing with other first responders and seeking support and resources.
