Program areas at Stop Child Predators Partnership

Scp has developed three main program areas to accomplish its mission:i. Child safety and awarenessii. Stop internet Predators programiii. Legislative outreach and grassroots activismi. Child safety and awarenessscp conducts Child safety and awareness programs by producing articles, op-eds and newsletters, and its experts provide testimony and frequently appear on radio and tv to promote Child safety. Examples can be found below: httpwwwstopchildpredatorsorgnewsh... also organizes meetings and seminars, bringing together policy experts, law enforcement officials and parents of Child victims to share their stories and help educate communities about the dangers of sexual Predators.
Iii. Legislative outreach and grassroots activismscp conducts multiple legislative outreach and grassroots activism activities, including passing jessica's law in 46 states. A copy of the model legislation that was used to draft "jessica's law" in the states can be found herehttpwwwstopchildpredatorsorgl... lunsford serves as scp's chairman to the advisory board. His daughter jessica is the namesake for "jessica's law and it was her abduction, rape and murder at the hands of a twice-convicted sex offender that provided the impetus to seek stricter laws against Child predators.we work with mark lunsford and other victims to promote mandatory minimum sentences and electronic monitoring for convicted sex offenders, and to ensure that "jessica's law" gets implemented in all 50 states. Scp organizes policy experts, law enforcement officers, community leaders and parents to launch state-by-state campaigns designed to educate lawmakers and the public about policy changes to monitor Child Predators and enact stronger and more effective policies. For example, we have been invited to appear before various legislative committees to offer expert testimony; most recently, in 2014, before the new jersey assembly judiciary committee and the Colorado house state, veteran's affairs & military committee. Scp also partners with other Child safety organizations and law enforcement agencies that share our commitment to Child safety. Collaborative efforts help to increase awareness and maximize results that benefit everyone. Scp recognizes january 28th as data privacy day; april as national Child abuse prevention month; may 25th as national missing children's day; june as national internet safety month; and october as national cyber security awareness month.
Ii. Stop internet Predators scp launched Stop internet Predators in 2008 to educate parents and communities on emerging online Child safety issues and to empower them to protect their children's privacy and safety. In that same year, we passed model legislation aimed at controlling and pursuing online Child Predators; 12 states have adopted provisions in the model bill, which can be found here: httpwwwstopchildpredatorsorglegis... internet Predators also closely monitors internet technologies and online social networking applications that might pose a risk to children's safety. To that end, we develop and implement online safety education and awareness programs that empower parents, educate children, and help reduce the occurrence of internet crimes against children. Scp has helped several communities across the nation launch educational programs about internet safety. For example, in august 2009, scp brought together leading safety experts in orlando, Florida to discuss the importance of educating children and their parents about online safety. The summit was part of a series launched by scp the summer before to bring together lawmakers, law enforcement, school officials, and advocacy and Child abuse prevention organizations to unveil a broad set of recommendations for how to protect children online. Scp also recognizes that the use of the internet to disseminate Child pornography is a pervasive problem. Read Stop Child Predators' publication, "p2p file sharing: pandora's box of Child porn?" To learn more about legislative efforts to address this internet trend. Httpwwwstopchildpredatorsorgpdfsc... can also read more about our efforts to curb the spread of Child pornography online, including press releases applauding the federal trade commission for warning over 100 organizations of improperly releasing consumer data through p2p and an august 12, 2010 op-ed about the department of justice presenting the national strategy for Child exploitation intervention report to congress that outlines the effect technology has on the ease in which to distribute Child pornography. Httpwwwgopusacomcommentary2010081... was awarded first place in june 2011 in the department of homeland security's "stop.think.connect." Public service announcement (psa) challenge. Stop Child Predators' president stacie rumenap accepted the organization's award from white house cybersecurity coordinator howard schmidt, secretary of commerce gary locke, and department of homeland security secretary janet napolitano.
