Program areas at Strive DC

Strive DC provided job readiness training to unemployed residents of the district of columbia as a means of eradicating its high unemployment rate. Nearly 76% of Strive DC's program participants resided in DC wards 5, 6, 7 and 8--wards in which the unemployment rate is highest. One of Strive DC's largest programs was its "Strive for success" program, which was a fast track ged program that targeted young adults between the ages of 16 to 25, and was co-sponsored by the academy of hope. Participants received 30 hours of academic instruction weekly during a seven-week period, and were subject to a practice ged examination at the completion of the program.
